Last month, I went to Seattle, which was a trip organized by IEM. I was lucky enough to travel with my roommate, Jessica. The purpose of the trip was to give the students an opportunity to talk to college representatives in person and ask questions about the application process. I decided to go because I knew it would be a great chance for me to learn more about some of the colleges I was thinking about attending. To my surprise, it turned out to be the most amazing trip I have ever had in my life.

It was a short four-day trip. During the first two days, we visited University of Washington and Seattle University and met with the administrators of international students from both of the universities. The meeting with the UW representative was extremely helpful for me because I was able to tell her about my situation and get all my questions answered. At the end of the day, I was exhausted after visiting all the campuses, but it was worth it. On Day 3 and Day 4, we visited some of the sights of Seattle, watched an IMAX movie and went Black Friday Shopping.

All of the students stayed together in a house in Seattle, which ended up being one of my favorite parts of the trip. It was an amazing house with four bedrooms, three bathrooms, two living rooms, one kitchen, and one dining room. Most importantly, there was a pool table in the basement that could turn into a pingpong table! We all spent a lot of time downstairs competing with each other and had so much fun. We all became best friends. One of the best parts of living in a house with our own kitchen was we got to show off our cookings.

Our teacher, Ms. Renee, woke up every morning to cook for us. Breakfast was always delicious. My favorite meal was our Thanksgiving dinner. We bought ingredients from an Asian supermarket and made our own Hot Pot! One of the group members, Louis cooked chicken for us. It was the most authentic “Big Tray Chicken” I have ever had, and everyone loved it.

The four days we were there was too short. When we landed in San Diego, everyone was sad to say goodbye. But as many people say, all good things must come to an end. After hugging each other a few times, we finally said our goodbyes and left. IEM, I will always be grateful for everything you gave me. Thank you!
